Biography
Christina Foitou
“The body is not simply depicted in the artwork; it is its active conduit, leaving on the surface the vivid trace of a moment suspended in motion.”
Christina Foitou is a Greek visual artist, born and raised in Athens. After studying education, she continued her artistic training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where she studied painting under Riccardo Guarneri and printmaking under Mario Guadagnino. She graduated with highest honors.
She subsequently worked as an art teacher in both public and private institutions. In 2007, she moved to Chania, Crete, where she devoted herself fully to her artistic practice, developing work around painting and performance while also leading visual arts workshops for children and adults.
Over the years, her work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions, art fairs, and performance festivals in Greece and several other European countries. Her works are held in public and private collections.
Since 2018, Christina Foitou has lived and worked in France, where she continues her research through painting, exploring the body, movement, and writing.
